De-icers prevent ice from forming by continually circulating warm, bottom water with cold, surface water. This constant water movement results in an ice-free area of protection for your boat, dock, pier, marina or landscaped shoreline.
De-icers are available in 1/2, 3/4 and 1HP unit sizes and can easily be mounted with ropes (included) or a dock mount kit purchased separately. Time and temperature control panels are also available separately.

If you live in a cold climate like I do, this de-icer is a must-have. It keeps ice away from your dock all winter long. I’ve had no issues with ice buildup, and the motor runs quietly, which is a huge plus. I’m beyond satisfied with its performance and durability.
I’m not the handiest person, but the Kasco De-Icer was super easy to install. It’s been working great for the past few months, and my dock has stayed completely ice-free. It’s saved me so much time and stress compared to previous winters. I can’t recommend it enough!

A:Great question. Please see below for recommendations: Cleaning
Remove equipment from the water at least once per year to clean the exterior of the system, especially the stainless steel motor housing (can). The motor housing is the surface that dissipates heat into the water, and any algae, calcium, etc. buildup will become an insulator that blocks heat transfer. In warmer regions, we recommend removing and cleaning the motor at least two to three times per year depending on conditions. In most cases, a power washer will be sufficient if the unit and algae are still wet. Avoid power-washing the mechanical seal area directly.
Seal And Oil Replacement
This is a sealed motor assembly, and seals will wear out over time (similar to brake pads on a car). Replacement of the seals and a change of oil after three years may add longevity to the operation of the motor, saving you the cost of more expensive repairs.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Q:Do you have a replacement 3 prong receptacle for the Kasco C-20 temp/time unit? This is the female outlet inside the control box. If yes, price and availability please. Thanks.

A:Hello, Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, we get our control panels fully assembled from our vendor, so the 3 prong receptacle is an item we do not stock for replacement parts.
Sorry I don’t have better news for you. I am happy to draft an invoice for a replacement unit for you with a discounted price.

A:Hello and thank you for choosing ProtoPond the preferred choice in lake and pond equipment! Yes, you can run a deicer in a pool. I would run the unit in the deepest part of the pool with at least 5-6 feet of water depth; the deeper, the better. I would not recommend a Kasco deicer in this situation. Kasco deicers have oil inside the motor to cool them and it is possible for oil to leak out of the motor and cause significant issues in your pool. I would not be wanting to clean a pool liner of greasy oil in the dead of winter! Also, if anyone is going to be in the water or even touching the water, including wildlife, you are required to unplug the unit from a power source in order to prevent electrifying the water.
I recommend a Scott Aerator Slinger deicer as they do not use oil in their motors. The Slinger deicers are suspended via nylon ropes so you would simply tie the ropes to the sides of your pool and suspend the Slinger deicer deep enough so you get a slow gentle "boil" on the surface of the water. We do not want water to be pushed up in the air, we just want to circulate warmer water nearer the Earth at the bottom on the pool with cooler water in contact with cold air temps at the surface.
As always if you have more questions you can contact us directly at (305) 204-1425 with additional questions. By calling us you can also learn about any promos we may have running currently.
Thank you and enjoy your pond!
